The x-ray radiation with cardiac CT (12-15mSv) was claimed to be higher than conventional angiogram (8-10mSv). However with the emergence of revolutionary snap shot scan technology which uses prospective cardiac gating, the radiation dose can be as low as 1-5mSv. For comparison the normal annual background radiation is about 3mSv.This new equipment, GE Healthcare’s Lightspeed VCT XT, has been installed at Clarity since 2008.
