The most important application of cardiac CT is for "Exclusion of coronary artery disease" in the low to intermediate risk group, who are not candidates for invasive conventional angiogram. With negative predictive value of >99%, a normal coronary CTA "rules out CAD". Some of the common indications include:

  • Atypical chest pain
  • Cardiac risk factors:

    • Diabetes
    • High cholesterol
    • High blood pressure
    • Family history of heart disease
  • Patients with previous procedures:
    • Angioplasty
